Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke during the telephone talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Russian through an interpreter despite the fact that the Russian leader has a perfect knowledge of German, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"In Russian, of course, through an interpreter," he said in an interview for the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" program released on Zarubin’s Telegram channel.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 15. It was their first phone call since early December 2022. According to the Kremlin press service, the leaders discussed Ukraine, the Middle East conflict, bilateral relations between Moscow and Berlin. Putin and Scholz agreed that their aides will continue communication.
