Russia to hold Astana-format summit in 2025 — Russian diplomat
Alexander Lavrentyev noted that despite the fact that the exact date of the summit has not yet been agreed upon, meetings in the Astana format are held regularly at other levels
MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. Russia will host an Astana-format summit of the leaders of Russia, Turkey, and Iran in 2025, Russian presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told TASS.
"There are plans to hold such a meeting and I think that a full-fledged meeting can be held in Russia in 2025," he said.
He noted that despite the fact that the exact date of the summit has not yet been agreed upon, meetings in the Astana format are held regularly at other levels. "For instance, not long ago, a meeting in this format between the foreign ministers was held on the sidelines of the high-level week in New York," he said.
"As for a meeting between the presidents, naturally, it needs to be prepared," he added.
The previous meeting between the Russian, Iranian, and Turkish presidents was held in Tehran in 2022. The leaders reiterated their commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stressed that there is no alternative to a political settlement in that country.
