MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. Syria can join BRICS’ activities after the Syrian crisis is settled, Russian presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told TASS.

"Naturally, the issue of considering BRICS membership takes certain time, quite a long time. But we hope that by the time when Syria becomes a BRICS member, a decisive line will be drawn under the Syrian settlement and we will be glad to admit Damascus as a member of this outstanding organization," he said.

The BRICS group was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining it in 2011. On January 1, 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates became its full-fledged members.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the BRICS Summit in Kazan that the list of BRICS partner countries had been agreed upon. However, he did not make this list public, saying that first invitations would to be issued to these countries and it would be clear who would be on this list after their positive response to the invitations.
