Russian delegation at COP29 in Baku is first carbon-neutral
The settlement will be at the expense of carbon units received as a result of implementing the climate project on energy efficiency increase at Sibur-Neftekhim
MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Participation of the Russian delegation in the COP29 climate conference in Azerbaijan will be the first carbon-neutral one during all the years of conference holding, the press service of the Russian petrochemical major Sibur says.
"Sibur will compensate the carbon footprint of participation of the Russian delegation in the COP29. This will be the first carbon-neutral delegation with the confirmed international verification throughout the years of conference existence. The settlement will be at the expense of carbon units received as a result of implementing the climate project on energy efficiency increase at Sibur-Neftekhim. Carbon units will be debited from the company’s account with the Russian register," Sibur says.
The carbon footprint is computed by Jept and the carbon neutrality statement is verified by TUV Austria. The certificate of carbon footprint settlement will be posted on the website of the national network of the UN Global Compact.
