Lavrov to lead Russia’s delegation to G20 summit in Brazil

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with heads of BRICS media outlets that he will not be attending the G20 summit in Brazil, scheduled for November 18 and 19

MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will lead Russia’s delegation to the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Rio de Janeiro, Russian foreign ministry’s Ambassador at Large Marat Berdyev said.

"At the instruction of President Vladimir Putin, the Russian delegation to this event will be led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with heads of BRICS media outlets that he will not be attending the G20 summit in Brazil due to take place on November 18 and 19 in order to avoid disrupting the event but promised to send a high-ranking official to represent Russia at the summit. He stressed that he maintained "good friendly relations" with his Brazilian counterpart.
