Breakthrough near Krasnoarmeysk could enable Russian push toward the Dnieper — expert
Markus Reisner noted that many of the Ukrainian units on this section of the frontline are understaffed by 50%
BERLIN, November 12. /TASS/. If a successful breakthrough occurs near Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name - Pokrovsk), Russian forces will have a good chance of quickly advancing 150 km to reach the Dnieper, said Austrian historian and military expert Colonel Markus Reisner in an interview with NTV channel.
He pointed out that beyond Krasnoarmeysk, "in reality, there are almost no Ukrainian defense lines."
"If the Russians manage to break through, the subsequent course of events could unfold very quickly. They will be able to make rapid headway, moving 150 kilometers forward to the bank of the Dnieper River," Reisner believes.
The expert noted that many of the Ukrainian units on this section of the frontline are understaffed by 50%.
"There are not enough men in the trenches. Rotation is no longer possible," he noted. Reisner recalled that Krasnoarmeysk was an important logistical hub, transferring supplies for Ukrainian units in Donbass. Additionally, in his opinion, this city plays the role of a citadel on the third line of Ukrainian defenses.
In the Krasnoarmeysk area, the Russian army has been pushing Ukrainian forces westward. Colonel Vitaly Kiselev, a military expert from Donbass, believes that on flat terrain, Ukrainian forces will be unable to hold their position for long and will have to retreat in the near future.
