"We call on states to strictly obey Article 4 of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, which envisages a legislative ban on such manifestations," Grigory Lukyantsev said

UNITED NATIONS, November 11. /TASS/. Russia stresses the inadmissibility of justifying the dissemination of the Nazi ideology under the guise of the freedom of speech, a high-ranking Russian foreign ministry official said at a meeting of the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly before voting a Russia-initiated draft resolution on combating the heroization of Nazism.

"The co-authors of this draft resolution will never agree with those who calls to look upon these phenomena as the implementation of the freedom of expression, assembly and association. It is inadmissible to hide behind relevant references in a bid to justify the dissemination of the racist, Nazi, and xenophobic ideology and rhetoric. We call on states to strictly obey Article 4 of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, which envisages a legislative ban on such manifestations," said Grigory Lukyantsev, director of the ministry’s human rights cooperation department.
