Russia, African states favor expansion of national currencies use in trade — statement

MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Russia and African countries have stressed the importance to expand the use of national currencies in trade and financial transactions, according to a joint statement by participants of the first ministerial conference of the Russian-African partnership forum released on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"We underline the importance of expanding the use of national currencies in trade and financial transactions between the Russian Federation and the states of the African continent," the ministry said.
"We stress the necessity to expand the use of national currencies in trade and financial transactions between the Russian Federation and the states of the African continent," according to the statement.
The participants of the conference also noted the necessity of bringing closer approaches to creation of efficient new and maintenance of existing international transport corridors in the interests of mutually beneficial development of Russia and African states. "We stress the necessity of ensuring their security in accordance with international law, including for prevention of violation of supply chains as one of major tasks. We consider it necessary to strengthen the dialogue between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), countries and leading integrations of the African continent, as well as to support the efforts of African states seeking to conclude agreements on free trade with the EAEU," the statement reads.
