HAVANA, November 11. /TASS/. Russian citizens have not requested assistance from the Russian Embassy or Consulate General in Havana in connection with the earthquakes.
"According to media reports, earthquakes of magnitudes 6.8 and 5.9 occurred today (Sunday, local time - TASS) off the coast of Cuba’s eastern provinces," the Russian Embassy stated on its Telegram channel. "No information on any casualties has been received at this time. Russian citizens have not requested assistance from the embassy or Consulate General due to the earthquakes," the diplomatic department added.
Earlier, Cuban seismologists reported that the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Granma had experienced earthquakes of 6-6.5 magnitude. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel later confirmed the information on his X page, urging the public to "stay in open places." "We are beginning to assess the damage so we can start rebuilding," he wrote. "Saving lives is the most important thing," the president added.
