West using intimidation, blackmail to set global majority against Russia — Lavrov
According to the top Russia diplomat, during the conference, Russian and African countries exchanged a range of proposals on how to improve their relations
SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, November 10. /TASS/. Western countries are seeking to set the global majority against Russia by means on intimidating and blackmailing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the closing ceremony of the Russia-Africa partnership forum’s ministerial conference.
According to the top Russia diplomat, during the conference, Russian and African countries exchanged a range of proposals on how to improve their relations. "But this is done without attempts at dictating, without attempts at blackmailing," Lavrov stressed. "The West continues to use methods of intimidation and dictation in a bid to try to set the global majority against Russia."
The West, in his words, doesn’t want and is not ready to lose its leading positions in the global arena because "the methods its is using in relations with the global majority differ little from colonial ones." "These methods are clearly seen in the West’s actions as, in spite of the powerful objective tendency toward forming a multipolar world, the West convulsively wants to, at least, slow down this tendency and stop it in the ideal case," he added.
The first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa partnership forum was held in the Sirius Federal Territory on November 9 and 10. Around 1,500 delegates, including 45 ministers from African countries, took part.
