Eurasian security system requires restoring trust between Russia, Europe – Putin
This will be the first step towards creating a common system of Eurasian security, Putin said
SOCHI, November 8. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that Russia and Europe need to restore mutual trust before creating the Eurasian security system.
"We need to reinstate the system of mutual trust, step by step," the Russian leader told the plenary session of the Valdai discussion club, commenting on relations between Russia and Europe.
"This will be the first step towards creating a common system of Eurasian security," Putin said.
"Once again <…> they started to speak about a common security system spanning from Lisbon to Vladivostok; once again they returned to ideas once expressed by [former French President Charles] de Gaulle," the Russian leader continued. "If our colleagues decide to return to this idea at some point, the main point has already been reflected in OSCE documents: the security of some [nations] must not contradict or harm the security of others.".
