Russian embassy denies allegations of Moscow’s interference in US election
"The US authorities didn't even bother to contact us on this matter," the Russian Embassy pointed out
WASHINGTON, November 7. /TASS/. Baseless allegations of Moscow’s interference in the United States’ election are an attempt to play "the Russian card" in domestic politics, the Russian Embassy in Washington said in a statement shared with Newsweek.
"First of all, Russia has not interfered and does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, including the United States," the statement reads.
Commenting on US officials’ allegations that Russia was tied to a series of bomb threats directed toward polling sites, the Embassy said: "We have seen the allegations by US officials you refer to, but no proof of Russian involvement was presented either to the public, or to the Embassy."
"The US authorities didn't even bother to contact us on this matter," the Russian Embassy pointed out, adding: "Therefore we consider such claims through the media as baseless and connected with the goal of playing a ‘Russian card’ in the internal political fights in the United States."
Jen Easterly, director of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, said earlier that all bomb threats had turned out to be hoaxes and had not affected the voting process.
The 2024 United States election took place on November 5. American voters elected the president and vice president, 33 senators, 435 House members, and 13 governors of states and territories. Republican candidate Donald Trump became the president-elect.
