Trump unlikely to change US policy targeting Russia, Serbia, expert says
Yelena Ponomaryova pointed out that the documentary dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Nis incident was important for understanding the current global agenda
MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Neither US President-elect Donald Trump nor outgoing President Joe Biden is capable of changing the main course of US foreign policy targeting Moscow and Belgrade, political scientist Yelena Ponomaryova said at a TASS-hosted event.
Commenting on a documentary dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Nis incident, in which American pilots shot Soviet troops, the expert pointed out that it was important for understanding the current global agenda.
"Slavenko Terzic, who opens up the movie, is a brilliant historian and former Serbian ambassador to Russia; <...> he gave a very proper message because those ignorant of their own history can make completely wrong decisions," the analyst noted. According to her, the documentary "helps shed light on the world we live in today." "Be it Trump, Biden, or anyone else, the other party will still pursue the same fundamental line, and it will not change. The Serbs will continue to face humiliation as the Russians of the Balkans. This is why it’s important to know who is against us," Ponomaryova stressed.
Nis incident
On November 7, 1944, the US Air Force attacked a column of Soviet troops in the part of the Serbian city of Nis that had already been liberated from the Nazis. The tragic event went down in history as the Nis incident. A monument was installed at the site of the tragedy in 2022 at the initiative of the Naissus Society for Russian-Serbian Friendship and the Russia House in Belgrade.
