The Russian foreign minister expressed his conviction that many Western politicians in their right mind were aware of this, but "they can no longer give up the positions they initially took"

ASTANA, November 7. /TASS/. Moscow will be ready to turn an attentive ear to sensible ideas from Brussels on Ukraine, but for now the EU position leads to a deadlock, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told at a news conference following his working visit to Kazakhstan.

"If there are specific sensible ideas [from Brussels on Ukraine], we will be ready to study them. For now, from Brussels and from other capitals of united Europe, as they call themselves, we have been hearing only incantations about the 'non-alternative Zelensky formula,' which is an invitation to a dead end," Lavrov noted.

At the same time, he expressed his conviction that many Western politicians in their right mind were aware of this, but "they can no longer give up the positions they initially took, based on full support for Ukraine, which, as they say, protects European values."

"There is no answer to our questions about how the bans on the Russian language and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church correlate with European values. It seems to me that the Europeans should first of all ask themselves how European the so-called values promoted by the Vladimir Zelensky regime are. If so, what are these European values and where do these values lead European societies?" Lavrov asked.
