Billions needed to rebuild, destroy enemy: situation in Kursk Region

MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces have lost more than 250 troops in the Kursk area over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

In total, the enemy has lost more than 30,050 troops since the fighting began in the region.

More than 100 bln rubles ($1 bln) will be needed to rebuild houses that were damaged over the massive Ukrainian attack on Russia’s Kursk Region, the head of the region, Alexey Smirnov, reported.

TASS has gathered the key news about the unfolding situation.

Operation to neutralize Ukrainian forces

- Russia’s Battlegroup North repelled four enemy counterattacks towards the settlement of Novoivanovka, thwarted an enemy attack towards Leonidovo.

- Units of the battlegroup continued offensive operations, defeating Ukrainian formations in the areas of the settlements of Daryino, Leonidovo, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novoivanovka and Plekhovo.

- Russian tactical aircraft and artillery hit clusters of Ukrainian manpower and equipment in the Kursk Region.

- Operational/tactical aircraft and missile forces hit amassment areas and enemy reserves in the Sumy Region.

- The operation to destroy Ukrainian forces is ongoing.

Ukraine’s losses

- Over the day, the enemy lost more than 250 servicemen, eight fighting infantry vehicles, including two US-made Bradley IFVs, six armored combat vehicles, two artillery guns, two mortars and eight motor vehicles.

- Since the beginning of hostilities in the Kursk Region, Kiev has lost over 30,050 troops, 184 tanks, 115 infantry fighting vehicles, 107 armored personnel carriers, 1,088 armored combat vehicles, 817 motor vehicles, 261 artillery pieces, 40 multiple rocket launchers, including 11 HIMARS and six MLRS of US manufacture, 11 anti-aircraft missile launchers, seven transport and loading vehicles, 59 electronic warfare stations, 12 counter-battery radars, four air defense radars, 26 pieces of engineering and other equipment, including 13 counter-obstacle vehicles and one UR-77 mine-clearing vehicle, five armored repair and recovery vehicles, as well as a command and staff vehicle.

Rebuilding destroyed homes

- More than $1 bln will be needed to rebuild houses that were damaged over the massive Ukrainian attack on Russia’s Kursk Region, the head of the region, Alexey Smirnov, reported.

- Allocating such funds will take time, he noted. Compensation for rent for those who were forced to leave their homes is under consideration, the governor added.

- Some 2,500 families from border areas have already received housing certificates.
