Moscow follows meeting between Scholz, Xi — senior Russian diplomat
The German chancellor is in China on an official visit from April 14-16
MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Russia will closely monitor the results of the meeting between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told reporters.
"The Russians always follow any event of importance. <…> The visit has just started. As far as I understand, Mr. Scholz quite recently arrived in Beijing from [China’s] south where he was considering joint German-Chinese initiatives. Today, as I gather, he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. So we will closely monitor the results of this meeting," he said.
The German chancellor is in China on an official visit from April 14-16. On April 14, he visited the city of Chongqing, inspected the site of a German manufacturer of hydrogen-powered units and on April 15 went to Shanghai where he visited a plastics factory. On April 16, his final day in China, Scholz is holding talks in Beijing with Xi and Chinese State Council Premier Li Qiang.
