China's approach to Ukraine balanced, constructive, Russia welcomes it — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov stated that China "maintains quite high diplomatic activity" on the Ukrainian track
MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. China's approach to resolving the crisis in Ukraine is balanced and constructive, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told the media.
"Beijing's approach (to Ukraine - TASS) is well known. It is very balanced and constructive. We welcome such a balanced position taken by Beijing," Peskov said, while commenting on the Chinese authorities' proposal for a peace conference that would be equally recognized by both Russia and Ukraine.
He stated that China "maintains quite high diplomatic activity" on the Ukrainian track.
"The special representative [of the Chinese government on Eurasian affairs, Li Hui] is actively traveling to address this issue. Repeatedly, he has visited us to explain Beijing's point of view," Peskov said.
At the same time, Peskov noted that Moscow "at the moment does not see any changes in the Kiev regime's position" on the issue of holding any talks.
Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Beijing that China favored a peace conference that both Russia and Ukraine would recognize.
