US continues to foment new conflicts to save itself from default — Duma speaker
Vyacheslav Volodin cited data from the US Treasury Department, according to which the country's budget deficit in March amounted to $236 bln
MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. The United States will continue to fuel new military conflicts in order to save its economy from default amid a public debt crisis, Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.
"Washington will continue to create more and more military conflicts, trying to delay default, which with such borrowing must inevitably occur," Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel.
The Duma speaker cited data from the US Treasury Department, according to which the country's budget deficit in March amounted to $236 bln. At the same time, about 28% of the budget is financed by the national debt, which exceeds $34 trln. "Service costs have become the most problematic item of expenditure: the amount of interest payments in the near future will amount to a third of US budget revenues," Volodin said.
He added that the "exorbitant growth of the American national debt" means that there are no plans to pay it back. Thus, according to the Duma speaker, "the United States is used to solving problems at someone else's expense." "In order to maintain hegemony, they launched a war in Ukraine, sacrificing the economy of the European Union. This was not enough. Today, they are again provoking military action, now in the Middle East," Volodin summed up.
