Zaporozhye NPP to remain under Russian control forever — senior diplomat
"Russian operator and Russian national regulator are doing their best according to the highest standards of what is necessary to ensure the plant's nuclear and physical safety," Sergey Ryabkov pointed out
MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) will always be controlled by Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters.
"The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is and will forever remain under Russian jurisdiction," the senior diplomat said.
"Our operator and our national regulator are doing their best according to the highest standards of what is necessary to ensure its nuclear and physical safety," Ryabkov pointed out. "It is the criminal regime in Kiev that is endangering both the safety of the plant and the safety of citizens of many countries. This has been said repeatedly," he pointed out.
According to the deputy foreign minister, Russia urges IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to "call a spade a spade." "We cannot be satisfied with statements along the lines that attacks on the ZNPP are unacceptable, no matter where these attacks come from," Ryabkov emphasized. "This is a deliberate obfuscation of the obvious fact that the plant, and thus the safety of many millions of people living in large parts of Europe, is being jeopardized by Kiev and Kiev's sponsors, who indulge them and do not take measures to stop such actions," the senior diplomat underscored.
Ryabkov also said that a special session of the IAEA Board of Governors begins today in Vienna. "We will use this platform to expose the criminal nature of Kiev's terrorist activities with regard to this most important facility," the deputy minister said.
