Lavrov’s visit to China can be viewed as preparation for top-level interaction — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov noted that it is "still premature" to specify the exact dates of Putin’s visit
MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to China can be seen as preparations for interaction at the highest level but it is premature to name the exact dates of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to that country, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Certainly, this trip [by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to China] can be viewed as preparations for upcoming interaction at the highest level. Indeed, such interaction is in the works," he said, replying to a question as to whether Putin’s visit to China is being planned and whether it was discussed during Lavrov’s visit.
That said, the Kremlin official noted that it is "still premature" to specify the exact dates of Putin’s visit.
Peskov also noted that Russia and China share the understanding of the feasibility and necessity of interaction at the highest level. "given the high level of friendly relations."
The top Russian diplomat was in China on an official visit. He met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
