MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Russia has never attacked nuclear facilities in Ukraine and does not intend to do that, Russian Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said.
"Russia has never attacked nuclear facilities in Ukraine and does not intend to do that," the diplomat said on Russian TV.
On April 7, the Ukrainian armed forces carried out an unprecedented series of attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. One strike hit the territory adjacent to the cafeteria, injuring three employees; one employee was seriously injured, according to Rosatom. Half an hour later, a drone attacked the cargo port area; later, a drone attacked reactor number 6, hitting the reactor dome.
The six-reactor, six-gigawatt Zaporozhye NPP, located in the city of Energodar, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Russian forces took control of the facility in late February 2022. Since then, the Ukrainian army has periodically shelled both residential areas in Energodar and the premises of the power plant using drones, heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
