Ukrainian drone shot down over ZNPP, debris falls on roof of Unit 6
It is reported that despite all calls on the Ukrainian military to stop terrorist acts, bombardments of the NPP and its infrastructure continue
MELITOPOL, April 8. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army’s kamikaze drone has been shot down over the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The wreckage fell on the roof of Unit 6, the station's Telegram channel said.
"Ukraine’s attempts to shell the Zaporozhye NPP continue. Today, a kamikaze drone was shot down over the power plant. It fell on the roof of the 6th power unit. Threats to the ZNPP’s safety have not been identified," the post reads. "Despite all calls on the Ukrainian military to stop terrorist acts, bombardments of the NPP and its infrastructure continue. This can affect the safe operation of the facility."
The Zaporozhye NPP, located in Energodar consists of six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. The facility was taken under control by Russian forces in late February 2022. Since then, Ukrainian army units have been periodically shelling both residential areas in Energodar and the NPP’s premises, using drones, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers.
