Russian Ambassador does not rule out Finland sending troops to Ukraine in the future
Finland’s position may quickly change, according to the statements of Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, Russian Ambassador to Finland Pavel Kuznetsov said
MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Finland may decide to send its military to Ukraine in the future, Helsinki will rely on Washington in this matter, Russian Ambassador to Finland Pavel Kuznetsov said in an interview with TASS.
"Judging by the statements of the Finnish leadership, Helsinki does not yet intend to send its soldiers to Ukraine. At the same time, Finland’s position may quickly change, according to the statements of Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, who believes that this topic should be ‘kept afloat’ and that everything is possible in the future. I believe that in this topic, Finland will focus largely on Washington, not even the European heavyweights," he said.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on February 26 that at a meeting with the participation of representatives of about 20 Western countries in Paris, the topic of sending of ground forces of Western states to Ukraine was raised. According to him, the participants did not reach a consensus, but such scenario cannot be ruled out in the future. After the conference, representatives of most countries participating in the meeting stated that they did not plan to send troops to Ukraine.
