Over 3.2 mln Donbass, Novorossiya residents now Russian citizens — Putin
The Russian leader emphasized how important it was to "approach each person, each family, especially families with children, with the utmost care and with a warm heart"
MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. More than 3.2 million residents of Donbass and Novorossiya have officially become Russian citizens amid the ongoing conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a board meeting of the Interior Ministry, instructing to continue this work.
"In this extremely difficult situation, as hostilities continue, more than 3,200,000 residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions have already received Russian passports. I ask internal affairs bodies to carry on with this work," the Russian president said.
Putin emphasized how important it was to "approach each person, each family, especially families with children, with the utmost care and with a warm heart - all those who apply for a Russian passport and other documents that are often lost."
"Work with refugees is also important," Putin pointed out. "As soon as the opportunity arises, it is necessary to go door-to-door in cities and towns," the president added.
