Epidemic situation in Russia stable amid spring floods — Russia’s sanitary watchdog

MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The epidemiological situation amid Russia’s flood season remains stable, with preventive measures being taken, the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing told reporters.

"Due to spring flooding in a number of Russian regions, Russia’s sanitary watchdog specialists carry out federal state sanitary and epidemiological supervision of related facilities. Currently, the epidemiological situation in the supervised territories remains stable, and measures aimed at preventing the spread of diseases are being carried out," the report says.

The agency emphasized that its bodies have a grip on the sanitary and epidemiological situation, ensuring quality drinking water, as well as keeping tabs on surface and underground water sources in the flooded areas.

In the Altai Region, the agency is taking extra measures. As of today, 943 household plots and 478 dwelling houses are flooded in 42 settlements of the region. Currently, 163 people, including 30 children, are staying in temporary shelters.
