Russia considers removing Taliban from list of terrorist organizations — MFA
The final decision will be made by the country's top political leadership, the ministry said
MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The issue of removing the Taliban movement (currently banned in Russia) from the list of terrorist organizations is being considered, the Foreign Ministry has told TASS.
"As for terminating the Taliban movement’s status of a terrorist organization, this issue is being considered by the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Justice and other specialized agencies. The final decision will be made by the country's top political leadership," the Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier, Russia’s special presidential representative for Afghanistan and Director of the Foreign Ministry's Second Asia Department, Zamir Kabulov, told TASS that a delegation of the Taliban movement, currently in power in Afghanistan had been invited to participate in the Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum forum due in May.
The international economic forum Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum will be held in Kazan on May 14-19.
