Latest claims tying Russia to 'Havana syndrome' unfounded — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov stressed that "this is nothing more than a groundless accusation by the media"
MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has refuted media allegations that the Main Directorate of Russia’s General Staff has anything to do with the so-called "Havana syndrome," noting that this is the same old song and dance and all accusations are groundless.
"You know that this is not a new subject at all. For many years, the issue of this so-called Havana syndrome has been chewed over by the media. And from the very beginning it was somehow tied to accusing the Russian side of it but nobody has ever published or voiced any convincing support to these unfounded accusations," the Kremlin official said. He stressed that "this is nothing more than a groundless accusation by the media."
The first instances of "Havana syndrome" were registered in Cuba in 2016. The US authorities do not know what triggers the ailment among American diplomats and agents abroad. They indicated that they were caused by some "acoustic attacks" or "directed energy attacks" on the part of the countries unfriendly to Washington.
