CHISINAU, March 26. /TASS/. The Russian diplomat declared persona non grata by the Moldovan Foreign Ministry has left the country.
"This embassy employee has left Moldova," the press service of the Russian embassy in Moldova told TASS.
Earlier, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry protested and demanded the expulsion of a Russian embassy employee for holding the Russian presidential election on the territory of the unrecognized Transnistria. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that any unfriendly moves by Chisinau, including the expulsion of a Russian diplomat, will not go unanswered.
In August 2023, Moldova expelled 45 Russian embassy employees from the country and allowed only 10 diplomatic and 15 administrative and technical staff to work in the country. The expulsion was preceded by a series of publications in the media and on social networks accusing Russian diplomats of spying.
