Central African Republic interested in participating in BRICS events — Russian ambassador
According to Alexander Bikantov, the CAR’s authorities see BRICS as an important element of a new multipolar world order and an alternative to Western hegemony
MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. The Central African Republic (CAR) sees BRICS as an alternative to Western hegemony and is interested in participating in this association-related activities, Russian Ambassador to the CAR Alexander Bikantov said in an interview with TASS.
"They (the CAR’s authorities - TASS) see BRICS as an important element of a new multipolar world order and an alternative to Western hegemony. The Central African Republic has not yet applied to join BRICS. However, the CAR authorities would consider an invitation to participate in BRICS events," the diplomat said.
He stressed that Bangui is interested in strengthening cooperation with the BRICS countries both on a bilateral basis and at various international platforms.
"One of the minister-advisers to the President of the Central African Republic oversees issues related to cooperation with the BRICS countries," Bikantov said.
The ambassador added that recently a delegation of the BRICS International Alliance of Strategic Projects was in the capital of the Central African Republic on a working visit.
"According to media reports, a protocol of intent has been signed regarding modernization of the Bangui International Airport," he concluded.
