Sending foreign troops to Ukraine may have irreparable consequences — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov stressed that at the moment there is no exact data about such decision by European countries
MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. The appearance of foreign military contingents in Ukraine will be fraught with extremely negative consequences, even irreparable, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Sending some foreign military contingents to Ukraine is fraught with very negative, even irreparable, consequences," he said in response to a request to comment on statements by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Gonchar (included in Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists) about Paris considering sending a European military mission to the regions of Ukraine bordering Belarus.
He stressed that at the moment there is no exact data about such decision by European countries. "We need to get accurate information. So far, as far as I understand, there is nothing specific on the matter," Peskov said.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, following the results of a conference dedicated to Ukraine in Paris, did not rule out the possibility of sending ground forces of Western countries to the zone of a special military operation. In turn, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin said that, according to Moscow, the number of this contingent could reach 2,000 people.
