Embassy records voter turnout of almost 6,000 in Russian presidential election in France
As many as 3,658 people, or more than half of all voters, cast their ballots at the embassy in Paris
PARIS, March 18. /TASS/. Voter turnout in the Russian presidential election in France was 5,900 citizens, with the majority of the electorate going to the polls in Paris, the Russian embassy in France said.
"According to the results of voting in the Russian presidential election held in France, 5,990 voters took part," the Russian diplomatic mission said on its Telegram channel.
As many as 3,658 people, or more than half of all voters, cast their ballots at the embassy in Paris. Strasbourg came in second with 1,268 voters, followed by Villefranche-sur-Mer (558 people) and Marseille (506 people).
On election day, voters formed lines of over 300 meters long outside the Russian embassy in Paris, according to a TASS reporter. While some of them waited in line for over four hours, they said they did not mind taking the time as they cared about their country’s future.
Russia held its first ever three-day presidential election on March 15-17. Voters had the option of casting their ballots online in around one-third of Russia’s regions.
