Russian election authority’s website hit by nearly eight mln hacking attacks in 2024
More than 19,000 potentially dangerous attacks of moderate and high severity were recorded between the start of voting in the Russian presidential election and 3:00 p.m. Moscow time
MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. Almost eight mln potentially dangerous attacks on the website of Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) have been recorded since the beginning of the year, CEC member Igor Borisov said.
"Almost eight million episodes of potentially dangerous impact have been recorded on the CEC website since January 1, ranging from moderate to high severity, including four deliberate DDoS attacks that lasted 14 minutes," Borisov said at the CEC information center.
According to him, more than 19,000 potentially dangerous attacks of moderate and high severity were recorded between the start of voting in the Russian presidential election and 3:00 p.m. Moscow time (12:00 p.m. GMT) on Sunday, including nine targeted DDoS attacks lasting a total of 38 minutes.
