Ukrainians attack critical infrastructure at Zaporozhye nuke plant
No ZNPP staff was injured in the attack, nor any equipment was damaged, director of the nuclear facility, Yury Chernichuk, said
MELITOPOL, March 14. /TASS/. Ukrainian forces attacked critical infrastructure at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), the nuclear facility said on its Telegram channel.
"An attack against critical infrastructure at the power plant was reported. A shell-less explosive device was thrown near the fence behind which diesel fuel tanks were stored. Had the tanks been hit, it could have caused dire consequences," the ZNPP said in a statement.
No ZNPP staff was injured in the attack, nor any equipment was damaged, director of the nuclear facility, Yury Chernichuk, said.
"Fortunately, neither the equipment, nor the staff was injured in the attack," the ZNPP quoted Chernichuk as saying on Telegram.
Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) were recently rotated at the nuclear facility, the ZNPP added. "[IAEA] inspectors were informed of the attack and potential consequences of such attacks," the nuclear power plant said as it called such attacks inadmissible. It also gave assurances that there are enough highly qualified staffers on the premises to guarantee 100% safety at the nuclear facility.
