German journalists to leave Russia if Berlin targets Russian reporters, diplomat says
On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned German Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Lambsdorff to deliver a formal demarche and demand clarifications over the leaked conversation among Bundeswehr
MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. German journalists will have to leave Russia if Berlin targets Russian correspondents, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on a broadcast of the Soloviev Live TV channel.
"I would like to make it clear straight away for everyone to know, and Berlin has been informed of this through diplomatic channels: If they target Russian correspondents and follow through with their plan, then German journalists will leave Russia," the diplomat pointed out.
On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned German Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Lambsdorff to deliver a formal demarche and demand clarifications over the leaked conversation among Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) officers discussing potential attacks on the Crimean Bridge using Taurus missiles, a German weapons system. In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry said later in a statement that Berlin’s envoy had been informed that "the German authorities’ ongoing attempts to restrict the activities of Russian journalists in Germany are unacceptable; and it was also emphasized that such activities would not be left without a tough response."
