US extends Ukraine-related sanctions against Russia for one year — White House
The United States started introducing sanctions against Russia in view of developments in Ukraine and reunification of Crimea with Russia in March 2014
WASHINGTON, March 4. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden extended certain sanctions against Russia introduced due to the situation in Ukraine for one year, the White House said in released documents.
This refers to restrictive measures against Russia applied by the current administration on February 21, 2022, the previous administration of Donald Trump on September 20, 2018, and the administration of 44th US President Barack Obama in March and December 2014 in respect of Crimea. All these sanctions must continue in effect beyond March 6, 2024," the document reads.
"The actions and policies addressed in these Executive Orders continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States," Biden said in the explanatory note. "I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13660," he added.
The United States started introducing sanctions against Russia in view of developments in Ukraine and reunification of Crimea with Russia in March 2014. Sanctions were repeatedly expanded and renewed since then.
