US predicts Russia’s bleak future while floundering in problems itself — SVR veteran
Leonid Reshetnikov points out that many migrants storming the southern borders of the United States are not Latin Americans, but natives of regions "plagued by the neo-imperialist wars unleashed by Washington"
MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. Washington is predicting gloomy prospects for Moscow because of the special operation in Ukraine, but the United States itself is floundering in an ocean of problems, a Russian foreign intelligence service (SVR) veteran has said in an open letter to William Burns, the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency.
"The White House believes that Moscow’s decision to start the special military operation was a wrong choice. It forecasts us a bleak future. In response, I would like to say to the Americans: look around! The US is mired in impunity, corruption and civil confrontation," writes Lieutenant-General Leonid Reshetnikov, retired.
He points out that many migrants storming the southern borders of the United States are not Latin Americans, but natives of regions "plagued by the neo-imperialist wars unleashed by Washington."
"The Yemeni Houthis are shaking loose the foundations of Anglo-Saxon hegemony - free world trade. Lauded Euro-Atlantic unity rests solely upon the post-WW II system of rigid subordination of the West European establishment to the will of its overseas 'protector' in the face of the intensely inflated fears of first a Soviet and later a Russian threat," he pointed out.
According to the SVR veteran, even having a well-oiled propaganda machine at their disposal the Western politicians find it increasingly difficult to explain to their people why they should put up with the hardships and deprivations associated with the Ukrainian conflict for the sake of the elites' geopolitical ambitions.
"The special military operation is our natural protective response to aggressive attempts by the United States to create a regime hostile to Russia in a brotherly state next to our borders, a regime that builds its own identity on hatred towards everything Russian," Reshetnikov said.
