Lavrov to hold talks with Nigerian foreign minister on March 6 — diplomat
According to Maria Zakharova, the two officials are to review a wide range of the pressing issues of Russian-Nigerian relations and discuss the possible way of bolstering bilateral interaction
MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks with his Nigerian counterpart Yusuf Tuggar who will be in Moscow on a working visit, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.
"The foreign minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be on a working visit to Moscow on March 5-7. Talks with his Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov are slated for March 6," she said.
According to the diplomat, it is planned that the two officials will review a wide range of the pressing issues of Russian-Nigerian relations and discuss the possible way of bolstering bilateral interaction, including activating political dialogue and expanding trade, economic and humanitarian ties. "[The sides] will exchange detailed opinions on the international and regional agenda with an emphasis on settling crisis situations on the African continent and certainly, in the Sahara-Sahel region in particular," the diplomat said. "We hope that the upcoming visit of our Nigerian colleague will facilitate mutually beneficial cooperation between our two countries in various spheres."
