According to the media, the US and Germany did hold talks with Russia to exchange Navalny, without any formal exchange proposal

LONDON, February 26. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told the Financial Times that he is unaware of any deals between Berlin and Moscow to exchange Alexey Navalny for Vadim Krasikov, a Russian national that has been convicted in Germany.

"I am not aware of such agreements," Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told the Financial Times.

Reuters reported, citing a Western official familiar with the situation, that the US and Germany did hold talks with Russia to exchange Navalny. However, the talks were at an early stage and there was no formal exchange proposal.

A German court sentenced Krasikov to life in prison in December in the case of the 2019 murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a Chechen-born Georgian national. The case had been tried since October 2020 under heightened security. Prosecutors alleged that a Russian citizen, they identified only as Vadim K., approached the victim on a bicycle and fired two shots. The defendant identified himself as Vadim Andreyevich Sokolov and previously stated he had no knowledge of the name Vadim Krasikov. Russia has repeatedly denied its involvement in the incident.
