34.5 mln Russians over 60 years old — deputy prime minister
According to expected statistical estimates, life expectancy in Russia currently stands at 73.5 years
MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. About 34.5 mln people in the over 60 age cohort currently live in Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said at the Russia Expo international forum in Moscow.
"There are 34.5 mln people currently living in Russia who are aged above 60. There will be two million more of them by 2030. This became possible because, together, we made proactive efforts to increase longevity," Golikova said.
Life expectancy in Russia is growing, the official said. According to expected statistical estimates, it currently stands at 73.5 years. Data from her presentation reveals that life expectancy in Russia increased by 8.5 years over the last two decades.
The number of specialists in geriatrics in Russia surged by a factor of 8.5 from just 200 in 2017 to 1,700 at present, Golikova added.
