Russia interested in stable US as it is a global player — Medvedev
The Russian Security Council deputy chairman highlighted the colossal US military potential and its importance for the global economy as a leading emitter of reserve currency
MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. The United States is an important global player and therefore Russia is not interested in instability in that country, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media, including TASS.
"With all the costs of coexistence — let’s be honest, enmity — with the United States, it is more important for us that there be a calm situation there than that there would be a managerial collapse or some unpredictable civil war would break out," Medvedev emphasized. "America, after all, is the most important global player."
The Russian Security Council deputy chairman highlighted the colossal US military potential and its importance for the global economy as a leading emitter of reserve currency. "If this currency collapses, then actually there will be consequences for all," Medvedev noted.
In the light of this, "there is the need to gradually squeeze the dollar from the top positions," using other reserve currencies, rather than abandon the US greenback immediately. "There should be the balance between reserve currencies in the world, we should develop digital currencies - this is the future," Medvedev said, while cautioning that "we should be aware of the risks.".
