Putin gifted Aurus to Kim Jong-Un after North Korean leader admired high-end car — Kremlin
"We intend to develop and will develop relations with all of our neighbors, including North Korea," Dmitry Peskov added
MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un gave high marks to the performance attributes of the high-end Aurus brand of Russia-made automobiles during his visit to Russia last year, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing, recalling that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally showed a model of the car to his distinguished guest from Pyongyang.
"When the leader of the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] was at the Vostochny Cosmodrome spaceport, he saw this car; Putin personally showed it to him. Like many [auto enthusiasts], he liked the car, and so the decision was made (to present it to him as a gift - TASS)," Peskov said.
"North Korea is our neighbor, our close neighbor. We intend to develop and will develop relations with all of our neighbors, including North Korea," the Kremlin official said.
Earlier, the KCNA news agency reported that Putin had presented an executive automobile made in Russia under the high-end domestic Aurus make as a gift to Kim.
Putin showed a model of an Aurus Motors executive auto to the North Korean leader last September during Kim’s visit to the Vostochny Cosmodrome space launch site in the Amur Region in Russia’s Far East.
The Russian president told his guest in detail about the exclusive automotive brand, not only about the limousine model, but also the sedan from the Russian automaker’s line of executive automobiles.
