PREVIEW: Lavrov visits Cuba, starts his tour of Latin America
During this tour Russian Foreign Minister will also visit Venezuela and Brazil
HAVANA, February 19. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrives on a working visit to Cuba on Monday starting his tour of Latin America.
During this tour he will also visit Venezuela on February 20 and Brazil from February 21 to 22 to take part in the meeting of G20 foreign ministers.
In Havana, Lavrov is expected to meet with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and the President of the Republic Miguel Diaz-Canel.
Relations between Russia and Cuba have historically been friendly and strategic. According to Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the parties will pay attention to deepening the political dialogue and increasing cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian and other areas. At meetings with the Cuban leadership the Russian Foreign Minister will certainly not ignore the latest events around Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
