Russia says it carried out 23 strikes on Kiev’s defense industry sites, troops this week
The Russian Aerospace Forces and air defense systems downed the Ukrainian Air Force’s Su-27 and Su-25 jets, as well as a Mi-8 helicopter
MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. The Russian military carried out 23 group strikes on Ukraine’s defense industry sites and bases of troops, mercenaries and nationalists from January 6-12, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a daily bulletin of the special military operation.
"Between January 6 and January 12, 2024, the Russian armed forces carried out 23 group strikes with long-range air-and sea-launched high-precision weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic air missile systems, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, on facilities of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex engaged in the production, upgrade and repairs of aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles, missile launchers and artillery systems. Also hit were bases of the Ukrainian armed forces, nationalist groups and foreign mercenaries," the ministry said.
The goals of the strikes were achieved and all the designated targets were hit, it said.
Here are the details of other combat operations that happened over the past week, according to the bulletin.
Kupyansk area
"In the Kupyansk area during the week, units of the battlegroup West improved positions on the frontline in some areas and repelled 27 attacks and counterattacks by assault groups from the 32nd, 43rd, 115th mechanized brigades, the 57th motorized infantry brigade, the 25th airborne brigade and the 95th airborne assault brigade in the areas of Sinkovka, Ivanovka, Peschanoye and Berestovoye in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said.
The enemy’s losses for the past week were more than 585 servicemen, three tanks, 14 armored fighting vehicles, 18 motor vehicles, 11 field artillery guns and a Grad MLRS launcher.
Krasny Liman area
The enemy’s loses were up to 995 personnel as killed or wounded, five armored fighting vehicles, 25 motor vehicles and five field artillery guns.
Russian military delivered strikes near the settlements of Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People’s Republic; Torsk and Yampolovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic; and near the Serebryanskoye Forestry.
Donetsk area
Units of Russia’s Battlegroup South, supported by aviation and artillery, repelled six enemy attacks.
"Firepower damage was delivered to units from the 22nd, 28th, 42nd and 93rd mechanized brigades and the 3rd, 5th and 92nd assault brigades as well as the 112th territorial defense brigade in the vicinity of the villages of Krasnoye, Kurdyumovka, Antonovka, Bogdanovka, Kleshcheyevka and Andreyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The enemy’s losses over this period have amounted to more than 1,785 troops, five tanks, 20 armored fighting vehicles, including two Bradley and five Kozak armored fighting vehicles, 63 motor vehicles as well as 14 field artillery guns," the ministry said.
South Donetsk area
"In the south Donetsk area, Russia’s battlegroup East repelled seven enemy attacks and inflicted fire damage on Ukrainian units near Novomikhailovka, Paraskovyevka, Pavlovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Priyutnoye of the Zaporozhye Region," the ministry said.
Ukrainian forces lost up to 850 servicemen, three tanks, 11 armored fighting vehicles, 22 motor vehicles, 15 field artillery guns, as well as a Grad multiple launch rocket system.
Zaporozhye area
Russian forces inflicted damage on the personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian 117th and 118th mechanized brigades, 128th territorial defense brigade as well as of Ukrainian National Guard’s 14th and 15th operational brigades near the settlements of Malaya Tokmachka, Verbovoye, Novopokrovka and Rabotino in the Zaporozhye Region.
"The enemy’s losses over the past week amounted to 230 personnel, three tanks, 10 armored fighting vehicles, 17 motor vehicles and three field artillery guns," the ministry said.
Kherson area
"Preemptive actions of Russian troops and comprehensive firepower damage inflicted on the enemy disrupted attempts by Ukrainian sabotage groups to cross the Dnieper to its left bank and islands," the ministry said.
Russian forces wiped out over 275 enemy servicemen, a tank, 21 motor vehicles, 15 boats and seven field artillery guns. Russian units also hit the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian 35th and 38th marine brigades and the 121st territorial defense brigade near Mikhailovka, Tyaginka, Ivanovka, Sablukovka and Kachkarovka.
"Over the past week, 48 Ukrainian servicemen surrendered. Of them, 35 did so in the Kupyansk area," the ministry said.
Air Force and air defenses
The Russian Aerospace Forces and air defense systems downed the Ukrainian Air Force’s Su-27 and Su-25 jets, as well as a Mi-8 helicopter.
Also destroyed were 35 rockets fired from HIMARS and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, six anti-ship Neptun missiles, two MALD air-launched guided missiles and 161 unmanned aerial vehicles. It was the first time the ministry reported the interception of MALD missiles.
"Tactical aviation and rocket forces destroyed two P-18 radars, 10 ammunition depots and an electronic warfare station over the past week," the ministry said.
Tally of destroyed equipment
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed a total of 567 Ukrainian warplanes, 265 helicopters, 10,620 unmanned aerial vehicles, 447 surface-to-air missile systems, 14,578 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,202 multiple launch rocket systems, 7,694 field artillery guns and mortars and 17,345 special military motor vehicles.
