Security situation at Russian embassies deteriorating dramatically — diplomat
"We have received only a few positive responses to the notes from Russian foreign missions in countries in Europe and America demanding measures be taken to ensure security during the election day," Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador at Large Gennady Askaldovich noted
MOSCOW, January 10. /TASS/. The situation around the security of Russian embassies and consulates has worsened dramatically and is cause for serious concern, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador at Large Gennady Askaldovich said.
"The situation in the area of ensuring security of our embassies and consulates has deteriorated dramatically and causes serious concern. Supporters of the Kiev regime regularly organize rallies and other provocative actions near our diplomatic missions abroad," he said.
"We have received only a few positive responses to the notes from Russian foreign missions in countries in Europe and America demanding measures be taken to ensure security during the election day," he noted, adding that relations with local law enforcement agencies in a number of countries have deteriorated as well.
"Instead of fulfilling their international obligations in terms of protecting foreign diplomatic missions," they "are pandering to aggressive pro-Ukrainian ‘activists,’" he said.
"Bearing this in mind, the foreign ministry’s ability to ensure the right of Russians living abroad to freely and safely elect the head of state are considerably reduced. But painstaking work on this track continues and people will be informed beforehand, including about the establishment of polling stations. Please follow announcements on the websites of our overseas missions," he added.
