Russia’s Central Election Committee registers Communist Party presidential candidate
Nikolay Kharitonov became the third registered candidate in the Russian presidential election
MOSCOW, January 9. /TASS/. The Russian Central Election Committee (CEC) has registered Nikolay Kharitonov, nominated by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) as its presidential candidate.
The KPRF formally nominated Kharitonov at a party congress on December 23. He filed documents with the CEC to get on the ballot as a candidate in Russia’s 2024 presidential election on December 27. The KPRF is a parliamentary party and its nominee does not have to collect signatures in order to run in the election.
Kharitonov became the third registered candidate in the Russian presidential election. Previously, the CEC registered Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), and Vladislav Davankov, the nominee of the New People Party.
