Aliyev, Pashinyan had quick word 'on the fly' at CIS summit — Kremlin spokesman
Dmitry Peskov noted that within the framework of the event "everyone had a chance to communicate with each other to discuss some main points on the fly"
MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had a brief encounter during the informal summit of CIS leaders on December 26.
"They did not hold talks yesterday, but such events, including the CIS informal summit, offer a good opportunity for having a quick word, when the leaders’ paths cross. That was precisely the case this time," Peskov said.
He added that within the framework of the event "everyone had a chance to communicate with each other to discuss some main points on the fly."
On December 26, the Armenpress agency reported, citing the spokesman of Armenia's prime minister, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, that Pashinyan and Aliyev held an unofficial meeting during the informal summit of the CIS heads of state and discussed the peace agenda.
Earlier, Pashinyan and Aliyev held several face-to-face meetings mediated by Russia and the EU. Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov also held talks. A bilateral commission on border delimitation is at work.
