Argentina takes time out to think over interaction with BRICS, Lavrov says
"When countries that sometimes don’t share similar positions work together and reach a consensus, such a consensus matters a lot," the top Russian diplomat added
MOSCOW, December 26. /TASS/. Buenos Aires has taken time out to think over its interaction with BRICS, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"Argentina has taken time out to think it over but Latin American countries have a strong interest in our group. The accession of new members will make its work more multifaceted," the top diplomat noted at a meeting of the United Russia party’s Commission on International Cooperation and Support for Compatriots Abroad.
According to Lavrov, agreements that such a large group of countries will make will have greater weight. "When countries that sometimes don’t share similar positions work together and reach a consensus, such a consensus matters a lot. It’s stronger and more reliable than decisions that some Western groups make at the behest of the hegemon," the Russian foreign minister stressed.
