MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin highlighted the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza at a meeting with Israeli Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Ben Zvi, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"The parties discussed the current situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone, primarily in the Gaza Strip, with a focus on the discussions of these issues at the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly," the statement reads.
"Russia reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire, particularly for ensuring safe and unhindered access to the injured and those in need," the ministry added.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added that the importance of going back to a diplomatic approach to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict within the internationally recognized legal framework had been emphasized at the meeting.
