Illegal seizure of Russian assets unacceptable, dangerous for global finances — Kremlin
"If someone confiscates something from us, we'll see what we can confiscate in response," Dmitry Peskov said
MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. Moscow does not accept the illegal seizure of Russian assets and considers it extremely harmful for the global financial system, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"The illegal seizure of our numerous assets is a regular topic of discussion both in Europe and America. This topic is unacceptable and potentially extremely harmful for the global financial system, because if such ideas are implemented, it will be a major blow to virtually the entire international financial system," he said.
In this regard, the Kremlin spokesman stressed that "those who are trying to initiate this, as well as those who will implement it, must understand that Russia will never forget those who did this." "It will exercise its right to legal action, international, national and otherwise," Peskov added.
He noted that Europe and the United States are well aware that the illegal seizure of Russian assets "will have legal consequences for those who initiated and implemented it." "If someone confiscates something from us, we'll see what we can confiscate in response," Peskov said.
Earlier, the National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby stated that the US is discussing with allies Russia’s potential role in Ukraine's restoration.
