Russia braces against potential election meddling in 2024 — senate speaker
According to Valentina Matviyenko, attempts to undermine the election campaign "will be exposed, brought out of the shadows and made public"
MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Russia will not allow anybody to interfere in next year’s presidential election, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko warned.
"Those seeking to arrive in Russia, using their mandate as an observer, <…> to destabilize our internal situation or carry out any other unlawful activity, will fail," the senate speaker said. "We won’t let [that] happen as we will prevent any interference [in the election]," she emphasized.
Attempts to meddle in the presidential election, including by way of information warfare or hacking attacks, will certainly be made, Matviyenko opined. However, any attempts to undermine the election campaign "will be exposed, brought out of the shadows and made public," she added. "We are warning those who seek to do any harm in advance," she concluded.
